However, the phosgene method is generally used, and the phosgenation reaction is usually carried out in the presence of a formamide-based catalyst. If the isophthalic acid is converted into an inter-molecular acid anhydride first, and then the phosgenation reaction is carried out, and the isophthaloyl chloride itself is used as the reaction solvent, a higher yield can be obtained.
